The National Highway Traffic Safety Admin. has opened an investigation into Ford Motor Co. fullsize and luxury cars over complaints from police departments about faulty axle design. Some 287,819 Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Car models are covered by the investigation.
