More stories related to Auto Interiors Show Twenty-three cars and light trucks comprise the list of nominees for the Sixth Annual Auto Interior of the Year awards, which will be handed out as part of the 12th annual Auto Interiors Show, sponsored by Ward’s Communications and being held May 18-19 at Detroit’s Cobo Center.

A team of Ward's editors compiled the nominee list in early April, and voting already is under way.

Eligible vehicles, which are new or significantly redesigned models for 2005, were judged on criteria that included: innovative use of new technologies, materials, ergonomics and overall aesthetics.

Automotive journalists throughout North America, as well as the general automotive community, will determine winners in four categories. (Employees of manufacturers whose vehicles have been nominated are not eligible to vote.)

The eight winners – four selected by the news media and four designated by the industry at-large – will be announced at a special reception on the floor of the Auto Interiors Show, Wednesday, May 18, at 3 p.m. Representatives from the winning auto makers will be on-hand to accept their honors.
