American Suzuki Motor Corp. will more clearly signal its intention to add a more upscale sport sedan to its lineup at the New York auto show later this month.

The Japanese importer will unveil the Concept Kizashi 3, the latest in a series of design studies March 20 at the show. It will be exhibited alongside the Concept Kizashi and Concept Kizashi 2, both making their North American debuts.

Suzuki says the latest show car hints at the brand’s future design direction. The Concept Kizashi 3, the last in the series, provides “a closer-to-production vision of a future Suzuki sport sedan offering,” the auto maker says, comparing the car’s profile to that of a “dynamic athlete in motion…displaying the performance, strength and style befitting a flagship vehicle.”

The original Concept Kizashi debuted at the 2007 Frankfurt auto show last fall, and the Concept Kizashi 2 followed at the Tokyo auto show last October.
