TAIPEI – Taiwan's Yulon Group expects to begin mass production of its self-designed Luxgen vehicle range in China in first-quarter 2011.

Output will take place at Dongfeng Yulon Motor Co. Ltd., a joint venture between Yulon and China's Dongfeng Motor Corp.

Yulon has signed agreements to market the Luxgen lineup in a number of other countries, including Vietnam, the Dominican Republic, Bahrain and Oman.

Initial exports of the Luxgen7 multipurpose van to Vietnam are scheduled to begin in June.

Yulon will launch the Luxgen7 SUV, the second model in the series, here in Taiwan. The SUV is powered by a high-efficiency, 2.2L 4-cyl. engine developed and built by Taiwan’s Advance Power Investment Co. Ltd.

In addition, the auto maker says it soon will begin domestic production of a second model in its Tobe series, a 1.5L minicar. Yulon has sold more than 1,400 units of the first Tobe minicar, the M, since its launch late last year.

The Tobe line is designed by China's Geely Automobile Holdings Ltd. and assembled in Taiwan by Yulon.
