The Toyota JV begins production of the high-grade Land Cruiser Prado VX at its Chengdu Plant, which also makes the Land Cruiser Prado GX.

Toyota Motor Corp. adds a second version of the Land Cruiser Prado into the mix at Sichuan FAW Toyota Motor Co. Ltd., a joint venture with FAW Group Corp. in China.
