More MBS Coverage TRAVERSE CITY, MI – Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc. Chief Operating Officer and President Jim Press says the auto maker soon will bring out two new small cars to replace the slow-selling Echo.

While Press says he may reveal the names of the cars during his speech today here at the Management Briefing Seminars, including when the cars might debut, he says they will differ from Scion vehicles, meant to appeal to young buyers.

“They are not for trend-setting people,” he says of the new cars. “They are just mainstream market (vehicles). Basically, if (a buyer has) a belly button ring or some other piercing, they have to go to Scion.”

The two new cars won't have to do much to be deemed an immediate success, just sell more than the Echo's 79 units in July.
