Toyota Motor Corp. has introduced its first gasoline direct-injection (DGI) engine in Europe, fitted in the United Kingdom-built Avensis. Toyota's D-4 2L engine — until now available only in Japan — is an inline 4-cyl. making 150 hp at 5,700 rpm and 148 lb.-ft. (200 Nm) of torque at 4,000 rpm.
