Volkswagen AG’s Brazilian unit will build and export the new VW249 model from its plant in Sao Bernardo do Campo, beating out other VW sites in Portugal, Spain and Slovakia. VW’s Sao Jose dos Pinhais plant in Parana also will produce the model for sale domestically. The new small car, developed in Brazil, will begin production at the outset of 2005 largely for export to Europe and Asia.
