Nexen says not being pressed to break up

NEW YORK, Jan 11 (Reuters) - Canadian oil producer Nexen Inc on Friday said media reports that the company was being pressured to break up or sell off parts of the company were incorrect.

"We have not received any letters to that effect," said Nexen Chief Executive Charlie Fischer. "I was surprised to read reports in the media that a campaign is underway to break up the company as I would have expected we would be among the first to know."
