Nikkei up 3.1 pct on U.S. move to fix credit crisis

TOKYO, Sept 19 (Reuters) - The Nikkei share average rose 3.1 percent on Friday, buoyed by news that the U.S. government is considering a comprehensive solution to the financial crisis.

As of 0051 GMT, the benchmark Nikkei added 350.97 points to 11,840.27. The broader Topix gained 3.7 percent to 1,138.52. (Reporting by Aiko Hayashi)
