TOKYO, Sept 27 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei average rose 0.7 percent on Thursday as exporters such as Toyota Motor Corp climbed following an overnight rise on Wall Street and a softening in the yen.
As of 0001 GMT, the benchmark Nikkei was up 116.20 points at 16,551.94. The broader TOPIX index added 0.9 percent to 1,589.84.
