TOKYO, May 13 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei average rose on Friday after U.S. stocks gained on a rise in defensive shares, but the yen's strength against the euro was seen limiting gains as worries about Greece's debt problems linger.
The Nikkei rose 0.3 percent to 9,741.42, while the broader Topix index gained 0.2 percent to 850.97. (Reporting by Ayai Tomisawa)
