Nikkei slips 0.5 pct as resource shares fall

TOKYO, Dec 18 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei average fell 0.5 percent on Friday, pressured by metal stocks such as Dowa Holdings after gold prices were hit by strength in the dollar, while a soft profit outlook from U.S. economic bellwether FedEx also weighed on the benchmark.

The Nikkei slipped 53.16 points to 10,110.64. It dipped 0.1 percent the previous day, after having risen to its highest level in seven weeks at one stage.
