TOKYO, Dec 4 (Reuters) - Japan's top refiner Nippon Oil Corp and sixth-ranked Nippon Mining Holdings Inc will merge by next autumn to create the world's eighth-largest oil company, the Nikkei business daily reported on Thursday.
The presidents of both companies are likely to announce the move on Thursday, the paper added.
Neither company could immediately be reached for comment.
