NZ March new car registrations ahead of Feb -LTSA

WELLINGTON, April 3 (Reuters) - New Zealand new car registrations totalled 5,399 in March, up 10.5 percent from February but down 0.6 percent from March 2002, the Land Transport Safety Authority said on Thursday.

Used car registrations -- generally imported used cars -- totalled 13,268 last month, 6.1 percent higher than March a year ago, the government agency said in a statement.

New commercial vehicle registrations during the month were 1,972 compared with the 1,524 a month earlier, and up 15.7 percent on March 2002.

The top selling carmaker for the month was Ford Motor Co with 1,091 sales, followed by Holden with 792, and Toyota Motor Corp with 764.
