NY platinum, palladium drop early, gold firms up

NEW YORK, April 22 (Reuters) - NYMEX platinum futures sank more than 5 percent Thursday morning and palladium fell nearly 12 percent amid speculative liquidation by commodity funds after a recent metals rally fizzled, traders said.
