WASHINGTON, May 21 (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama announced a government push on Friday to boost auto fuel efficiency standards for model-year 2017 vehicles and beyond.
The effort also includes an order for environmental and transportation regulators to create the first U.S. efficiency targets for medium and heavy duty trucks for model years 2014-18, he said. (Reporting by Patricia Zengerle; editing by Ross Colvin)
