NEW YORK, May 17 (Reuters) - World demand for platinum auto catalytic converters dropped 39 percent to 2.23 million ounces in 2009, the lowest in at least five years, as vehicle sales tumbled on the back of a global economic crisis, according to an industry report released Monday.
