Platinum slides to 4-1/2 month low as dollar firms

LONDON, May 30 (Reuters) - Platinum prices fell to their lowest since mid-January on Wednesday at $1,395.35 an ounce as the dollar extended gains against the euro, knocking commodities priced in the U.S. unit, and as investors fretted over the weak demand picture.

Spot platinum was down 1.8 percent at $1,398.99 an ounce at 1323 GMT. (Reporting by Jan Harvey; Editing by Alison Birrane)
