There are a tremendous amount of engineers that took the early out options that were very talented. I would think a lot of them would be willing to contract back and help tutor the younger engnieers. They could also step right into areas that are short without the long learning curve of new engineers.

We address that issue in cover story of WardsAuto World digital magazine above and on wardsautocom. Older qualified engineers have moved away to other jobs, don't want to return to auto industry or do not have the training that now is in demand.

You are so out of touch that you can't ask the correct questions. How about rehire some of the thousands of competent experienced engineers you let go.
