Audi AG names Axel Strotbek as its new chief financial officer, effective Sept. 1.

He takes over for Audi CEO Rupert Stadler, who has been acting CFO since taking charge of the luxury brand in January.

Strotbek reportedly studied in Sweden and earned a masters in business administration in the U.S. before joining Volkswagen AG in 1991.

He has served as executive vice president of finance for VW China operations since September 2004.
