General Motors Corp. confirms it will begin exporting the Hummer H3 to Australia in mid-2007.

The Oz-bound right-hand-drive vehicle will be built at GM’s new Port Elizabeth, South Africa, facility that began production earlier this month.

GM also intends to export the South African-built H3 to Europe beginning in January.

Initially, the H3 will be available in Australia with a 3.7L inline 5-cyl. gasoline engine that produces 241 hp and 241 lb.-ft. (328 Nm) of torque. A direct-injection turbodiesel engine is expected to follow.
