SAO PAULO -- Brazil’s vehicle production this year is expected to reach 1.78 million, a 5.8% increase over 2000 but short of the original projection of 1.8 million-1.9 million vehicles, says Anfavea, Brazil’s automotive manufacturers association. Exports to Argentina plunged owing to the economic crisis there. Brazil’s energy crisis, plus the ripple effect of the U.S. Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, also affect output here.
