Sales in Canada of Class 4-8 trucks fell to 3,165 units in May, a 16.6% drop from a volume of 3,795 in like-1998. Class 8 sales, alone, dipped 14.5% to 2,538 units, compared with 2,977 in May 1998. Only Freightliner Corp. enjoyed an increase for the month, delivering 832 heavy-duty trucks, including sales of its Sterling brand. That represents a 23.6% gain from the 673 units sold year-ago.
