Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler Group today join General Motors Corp. as members of the United States Climate Action Partnership.

USCAP, which GM joined early last month, is a partnership of companies and non-government organizations seeking to reverse the growth of greenhouse-gas emissions by rapidly advancing climate-friendly technologies.

The group has recommended that Congress establish short- and mid-term emission-reduction targets and a national program to accelerate technology research, development and deployment.

USCAP also encourages action by other countries, including developing regions.
