DETROIT – The outlook for fuel economy-enhancing continuously variable transmissions (CVTs) took a hit this week as sources from General Motors Corp.’s Powertrain Div. say the world’s largest auto maker plans to kill its Hydra-Matic Variable Transmission intelligent (VTi) CVT next year.
