General Motors Corp.’s Flint, MI, commercial-truck assembly plant is adding a second shift due to strong demand for medium-duty rigs. The Flint complex also builds GM’s Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra fullsize pickups and employs 3,370 workers. The second shift won’t consist of new hires. Rather GM is drawing from its “jobs bank,” a list of workers who have been laid off at other company plants.
