Frankfurt Auto Show

Honda Motor Co. Ltd. will stage the global debut of its Accord Tourer Concept at next month’s Frankfurt auto show.

The auto maker says the vehicle “will give a strong indication of the design direction of the all-new Accord Tourer,” which is going on sale across Europe in mid-2008.

Honda recently debuted an all-new Accord in North America, but the model it sells in Europe historically has been smaller in size. Honda sells the current European Accord in North America as the mid-luxury Acura TSX.

As with the new ’08 North American Accord, Honda promises a sportier look for its European entrant. The Accord Tourer Concept has a wider, lower stance than the current Euro-spec Accord.

To complement the more athletic appearance, Honda promises a variety of low-emissions engines, as well as “innovative new chassis technology” for the Accord Tourer.

Also at Honda’s Frankfurt stand will be an area dedicated to environmental technologies, featuring hybrid-electric vehicles, such as the Small Hybrid Sports Concept shown at last March’s Geneva auto show, and Honda’s next-generation clean diesel.
