Geneva Auto ShowKia Motors Corp. will stage the unveiling of three vehicles at the upcoming Geneva auto show, including a first look at the refreshed ’06 Sorento SUV.

In Europe, Kia will offer two engines for the Sorento: a 21% more powerful 168-hp diesel and a 232-hp 3.3L V-6 gasoline mill.

Changes are evident in both the interior and exterior.

Inside, Sorento has a newly designed center stack and center floor console, which Kia says gives the interior a neater layout.

The auto maker says it used higher quality materials in the vehicle’s interior.

The Sorento’s rear legroom is increased via a reshaping of the front seat backs.

Outside, the Sorento’s sheet metal is more contemporary, Kia says.

Kia also will unveil a 5-door hatchback concept, the Cee’d, in Geneva, as well.

Kia says the car, pronounced “seed,” will provide a hint of the new C-segment model set to be built at the auto maker’s new Slovakia plant in December and debuting at the Paris auto show in September.

The Cee’d, with “sensitively flowing lines” but a “tough appearance,” showcases Kia’s evolving design language, the auto maker says, while boasting a European flavor.

“We wanted to make Cee’d as beautiful, as exquisitely detailed and precisely executed as possible,” Gregory Guillaume, chief designer at Kia’s European Design Center says.

“We wanted to introduce this concept as the starting point for the new design DNA for Kia, to highlight that this car is designed in Europe and made in Europe to fulfill 100% of European customer needs,” he says.

The Cee’d displayed in Geneva sports “English Pewter” paint and 19-in. polished aluminum wheels with low-profile tires.

Additionally, Kia will show the new ’06 Carnival multipurpose vehicle in Geneva. The vehicle now is on sale in the U.S., where it is known as the Sedona minivan. (See related story: New Sedona Serious Family Hauler)

While the Sedona has just one engine in the U.S., a 244-hp 3.8L V-6, the Carnival in Europe boasts two engines, one gasoline, one diesel, making 182 hp.
