Ford Motor Co.’s Land Rover unit may cut up to 770 positions at its Solihull, U.K., site as part of a plan to improve efficiency at the facility, which is angling to land production of a new version of the Freelander SUV. Reports indicate Land Rover wants to spin off a logistics department at Solihull to an independent contractor, but there is no word whether the 770 workers will be employed by a logistics contractor or re-employed by Land Rover.
