More stories related to 2005 NAIAS Mazda Motor Corp. is set to debut its MX-Crossport design concept at the 2005 North American International Auto Show in Detroit on Jan. 10.

The crossover concept “represents a new direction Mazda is considering as it works to expand its lineup,” says the auto maker.

The MX-Crossport was designed with the North American market in mind and blends the attributes of various vehicles, including sports cars and utility vehicles, Mazda says.

“The MX-Crossport transcends the existing categories of SUV and crossovers, and steps into the realm of sports cars, where the driver can experience the world of sports cars every time they get behind the wheel,” says Mazda in a release.

Mazda also will display the Mazda5 and Mazdaspeed6 production models.
