North American vehicle producers apparently aren't worried about a significant market downturn — at least not yet. In the latest round of scheduling meetings, production planners tinkered with previous third-quarter record output plans just enough to boost the total by 36,900 units. That brought July-September car and truck output to 4,222,700 vehicles, up 0.9% from the period record of 4,185,800 units “booked” a month ago and 4.3% ahead of the 4,048,000 vehicles built in like-1999. ...
