DaimlerChrysler AG's new Mercedes-Benz CL500 coupe will have a base price of $85,000 when it goes on sale in the U.S. in December. Mercedes forecasts sales of 2,500 units next year and 3,000 units in 2001. Mercedes says that should give it 3.3% of the U.S. luxury coupe segment in 2001, which is expected to total 91,000 units by then, about 6,000 units ahead of this year's sales.
