Ford Motor Co. will unveil the next-generation Ka subcompact car at the 2008 Paris auto show in October.

The new Ka will be offered in most European markets with the choice of a 1.2L Duratec gasoline engine or a 1.3L Duratorq diesel mill, marking the first time a diesel has been offered in the sub-B model.

Both the interior and exterior of the new Ka receive upgrades inspired by the auto maker’s kinetic-design philosophy created by Martin Smith, Ford of Europe’s executive design director, who describes it as “energy in motion.”

The new Ka is based on a platform designed by Fiat Automobiles SpA and will be built at the Italian auto maker’s Tychy, Poland, assembly plant, sharing the production line with the new Fiat 500.

Ford and Fiat forged an alliance to assemble sub-B segment cars in 2005.

Ford says the Ka will go on sale in most major European markets in late 2008 or early 2009.
