General Motors Corp. says its Gliwice, Poland, plant will be upgraded to produce the new Opel Astra II model. A company spokesman tells Reuters this will increase the plant’s exports by $200 million to $600 million. GM will be investing an unnamed amount within an "offset" investment package organized by the Polish government as part of Lockheed Martin’s $3.5 billion sale of fighter planes to the Polish air force. The Gliwice plant already produces and exports the Agila model.
