Volkswagen AG’s SEAT division says this year it wants to double its 2001 Mexican sales of 11,843 units. Spain-based SEAT says strong demand will increase its sales to 22,000 to 25,000 units and give it a 4% share of Mexico’s auto market, up from 1.4% in 2001. A SEAT spokesman credits the sporty design and relatively low prices of its models for the increased demand. SEAT sold 2,294 units in Mexico in January and has only been selling cars there since April 2001.
