The University of Michigan solar-car team wins its third straight American Solar Challenge, with its Infinium car finishing about two hours ahead of its nearest competitor. The U of M car earned a time of 28 hours, 14 minutes and 44 seconds for the 1,100-mile (1,770-km) event. The biennial competition began in Broken Arrow, OK, June 20 and ended in Naperville, IL.
