Volkswagen AG is investing 2.1 billion rand ($235 million) over a 6-year period in its South African unit, VWSA. VWSA will be increasing the models it exports from the country, says Reuters, including the new Polo and Golf, made at its Uitenhage plant in Eastern Cape. VWSA already has built 77,000 vehicles, including 30,000 Golf G4s, for export to Europe and the U.K. so far this year. Overall, it has shipped 125,000 G4s to the U.K. since the time exports began.
