Sales of medium- and heavy-duty trucks in Canada jumped 38.1% in April, marking the 25th consecutive monthly gain for the big-truck sector.
Classes 4 and 6 saw losses in the month, while all others enjoyed increases.
Class 4 sales slipped 4.8% to 165 units, as volume-leadersuffered a 24.6% decline. ’s deliveries plunged 43.5% and ’s tumbled 59.6%.
Class 6 sales fell 16.9% in April to 136 units, withand International deliveries plummeting 36.4% and 62.3%, respectively. Freightliner sales jumped 21.7% and was up 126.1%, albeit on just two units.
was the lone manufacturer in Class 5 to see a decline, down a whopping 62.3%. Volume-leader Ford notched a 20.5% gain, while International’s sales climbed 80.0%, and ’s grew 9.5%.
Class 7’s 32.0% spike was powered by Freightliner’s 89.5% surge, as well as solid performances by International and Peterbilt, which saw sales soar 63.4% and 57.5%, respectively.
Total medium-duty deliveries in April rose 12.9% to 1,144 units.
All Class 8 manufacturers posted double-digit increases for the month. Standouts included Peterbilt, up 119.4%, and volume-leader Kenworth, up 81.8%.
Through April, Canada big-truck sales were running 39.1% ahead of like-2011, to 14,176 units.
