Ssangyong releases teaser photos of the eXIV, a third-generation version of its XIV (exciting user interface vehicle) and discloses this latest concept cross/utility vehicle has 2-door styling and is powered by an electric motor with a range-extending auxiliary gasoline engine.
A spokesman is tight-lipped on drivetrain details and battery range, saying full specs of what the auto maker is calling the eXIV will be released later this month at the Paris auto show.
The spokesman also declines to comment on whether it might go into production, telling WardsAuto it is “just in the initial phase of development.”
The previous 1.6L gasoline- or diesel-powered XIV CUV, labeled the XIV-2, was unveiled in March at the Geneva auto show.
The new eXIV concept features a panoramic sunroof with hardware to generate solar power for some of the onboard equipment.
Ssangyong does disclose dimensions as 162 ins. (411 cm) long, 69 ins. (175 cm) wide and 62.4 ins. (158 cm) high, with a 102-in. (259-cm) wheelbase.
