The all-new CUV makes its debut as an ’11 model and is available in three trim levels; S, SV and SL.
It is powered by a direct-injection turbocharged DOHC I-4 with dual variable valve timing and an intercooler mated to either a 6-speed manual or continuously variable transmission. The manual transmission is available in front-wheel-drive configurations only, while the CVT is available in both front-and all-wheel-drive. All models feature speed-sensitive electric power steering.
The torque-vectoring all-wheel drive system splits torque 50:50 between the front and rear axles, and can split torque across the rear axle, sending up to 50% of total engine power to the outside rear wheel to prevent understeer and enhance cornering performance.
The JUKE rides on an independent MacPherson-strut front suspension setup, with front-wheel-drive models featuring a rear torsion beam and all-wheel-drive models having a multi-link suspension in the rear. Front and rear stabilizer bars are standard on all variants.
Standard features include a 6-way manual driver’s seat, 4-way manual passenger seat, speed-sensitive automatic door locks, AM/FM audio system with CD player, USB auxiliary audio input and steering-wheel-integrated controls, Bluetooth hands-free cell-phone connectivity, 60/40 fold-flat rear bench seat and rear under-floor cargo compartment (front-wheel-drive models only).
Safety equipment includes dual stage frontal, roof-mounted curtain side and seat-mounted side-impact supplemental airbags, active front seat headrests and stability control.
