The all-new sedan is considerably larger and rides on a new platform with a longer wheelbase than its predecessor, which creates more interior space and best-in-class legroom, according to Volkswagen.
It is powered by one of three powertrains, a 2.0L 4-cyl. in the S, a 2.5L 5-cyl. in the SE and SEL, as well as a 2.0L 4-cyl. turbodiesel in the TDI, which joins the lineup mid-year. The engines are mated to either a standard 5-speed manual gearbox (6-speed manual in the TDI) or an optional 6-speed automatic transmission.
The interior features a new steering wheel, more ergonomic gear shift, more intuitive climate and audio controls and a revised, relocated instrument cluster. Air conditioning is now standard on all models.
