The all-new sport sedan is powered by a 300-hp turbocharged 6-cyl., coupled to a standard 6-speed automatic transmission in an all-wheel-drive configuration.
It is available with three chassis; the standard, sport-tuned Dynamic Chassis, the Touring Chassis, which delivers a smoother ride, and the available FOUR-C active chassis, which offers three suspension settings that can be selected by the driver.
Volvo’s Pedestrian Detection system makes its debut on the S60, and utilizes both radar and camera-based information to warn the driver if a person is in the vehicle’s path and automatically applies full braking power at speeds up to 22 MPH (35 km/h). At higher speeds, the system still applies the brakes to reduce speeds as much as possible.
The City Safety system, similar to the pedestrian detection system, warns the driver and either pre-charges or fully applies the brakes to prevent rear-end collisions, or to minimize the damage. It works at speeds of up to 19 MPH (31 km/h).
A customizable touch-screen driver control interface is standard.
