RPT-VW Mexico union agrees to end strike on pay deal

MEXICO CITY, Aug 23 (Reuters) - The union at Volkswagen's Mexico plant, where the popular New Beetle cars are made, has accepted a 5.5 percent pay and benefits package to end a strike that began last week, the Labor Ministry said on Wednesday.

About 9,700 workers at Volkswagen's Puebla plant, east of Mexico City, walked off the job on Friday after rejecting an earlier offer.
