Russia to up import duty for foreign carmakers- Putin


MOSCOW, Aug 30 (Reuters) - Russia will gradually increase import duties on foreign carmakers to encourage them to open manufacturing plants in Russia, news agency Interfax quoted Prime Minister Vladimir Putin as telling the news channel Vesti 24. Russia has launched a series of initiatives to boost local car and truck production after the industry collapsed into crisis last year. (Writing by John Bowker, Editing by Lidia Kelly)
