Samsung and DirecTV to offer TiVo unit

LAS VEGAS, Jan 9 (Reuters) - South Korean electronics maker Samsung Corp. and satellite television company DirecTV said on Thursday they will team up to offer a digital video recorder that will let users pause live television and amass a library of recorded shows.

The Samsung-DirecTV device will offer service from TiVo , the best-known digital video recorder company. TiVo and DirecTV have similar manufacturing deals with Sony Corp. and Philips Electronics .
