Sandvik Q2 profit 1.66 bln SEK, beats consensus

STOCKHOLM, Aug 6 (Reuters) - Swedish specialty steel and tools maker Sandvik , boosted by higher sales volumes, reported second-quarter pre-tax profits of 1.66 billion Swedish crowns ($216.7 million) on Thursday, beating consenus.

The performance, which was lifted by a continuing economic recovery in its core markets, compared with expectations for pre-tax profit of 1.57 billion crowns and 1.19 billion for the second quarter of 2003.
