Skoda Auto quarterly profit doubles, sales grow


PRAGUE, April 29 (Reuters) - Net profit at Czech car maker Skoda Auto rose to 1.17 billion crowns ($49.89 million) in the first quarter of 2004 from 561 million crowns for the same period last year, the company said on Friday. The wholly-owned subsidiary of Volkswagen AG said in a filing with the Prague Stock Exchange that total sales for the quarter were 43.79 billion crowns, rising from 37.4 billion a year ago.
