SKorea July consumer inflation slows for 4th month

SEOUL, July 31 (Reuters) - South Korea's consumer price index fell in July for the fourth straight month, largely due to consumption tax cuts on automobiles and electronic appliances, the National Statistical Office (NSO) said on Thursday.

The index fell 0.1 percent in July from June, after falling 0.3 percent in June. The monthly consumer inflation rate was weaker than a forecast for flat growth in a Reuters poll of 10 economists conducted on Monday.

Year on year, inflation measured by the consumer price index (CPI) growth stood at 3.2 percent in July versus June's 3.0 percent, the NSO said.

Core inflation, stripping out volatile food and fuel prices, was 3.1 percent in July year on year, compared with 3.3 percent in June.
