S.Korean prosecutors summon Hyundai Mobis chairman

SEOUL, Nov 28 (Reuters) - South Korean prosecutors said on Saturday they had summoned the chairman of Hyundai Mobis Co , the car parts unit of South Korea's top automaker, for questioning in a political funding investigation.

"As part of an ongoing probe into political funding from conglomerates, Chairman Park Jeong-in of Hyundai Mobis was summoned and questioned," said Kook Min-soo, a spokesman at the Seoul district prosecutors' office. He declined to comment on details.

A spokesman at Hyundai Mobis could not confirm the summons.

Prosecutors are investigating the country's top business groups, including Hyundai Motor Co , over possible illegal funding to politicians.

On Thursday, prosecutors raided a leasing and lending unit of Hyundai Motor for evidence. They have also searched affiliates of Samsung Group [SAGR.UL] and LG Group [LUGG.UL].

The investigations centre on suspected links between family-run conglomerates and politicians and bureaucrats during last December's presidential election.
